Definite continuation for MTB-O in 2012 & 2013

In 2011 the MTB-O took place during the O-Ringen for the first time as a ”come and try it” activity. Stage 1 was held on the Tuesday afternoon on the activity day and stage 2 was on the Wednesday evening after the ordinary stage. The aim was for the MTB-O to reach 150 participants in order for it to continue and as the interest was considerably higher than this, with apx 250 starters per day, it will definitely continue in 2012.
The response from these participants has also been unbelievably positively and the O-Ringen has received numerous enquiries regarding the continuation of the MTB-O. The competitions were of high quality and were in the proximity of the O-Ringen town which was appreciated by many. There is obviously a great interest for this discipline within Swedish Orienteering and the O-Ringen need to take bettar care of the event organisation in order to meet the increased number of participants.

3 days in 2012 and 2013
– 2011 was a test year, now we are going to integrate MTB-O in the whole organisation which we hope will increase the quality even more. More than anything the information and the competition administration is going to improve next year comments O-Ringen's Mark Baljeu.
The suggestion that has now been decided is that we will continue with a 2-3 day competition alongside the ordinary O-Ringen, so that it is possible to compete in both competitions. During this years MTB-O competitions this participant group was the largest, but it was even for those who  chose to combine running the Open or 2-days.

Program 2012
In 2012 it is going to be a 3 day competition, which is even possible to combine with participation in the O-Ringen.
Monday evening (ordinary O-Ringen has middle distance day Simlångsdalen)
Tuesday evening (ordinary O-Ringen has middle distance day Villshärad)
Wednesday day (ordinary has an activities day)
Preliminary competition areas Skedala/Kaneberg, two stages and Galgberget/Wapnöslätten, one stage adjacent to the O-Ringen town.

Entries for the O-Ringen MTB-O 2012 have already opened and the first entry deadline is the 1st November. Of course you can combine your participation in the O-Ringen, 2-days or the open classes and you can even enter with the same SportIdent pin as for the other competitions. Welcome to some speedy competitions in 2012!
