O-Ringen is a meeting place for around 15,000 orienteers who, in total, start roughly 75,000 individual races. Competitors come from the whole world with around 40 nations usually being represented.
All categories of orienteers compete in O-Ringen and people of all ages can take part: from top international orienteers to novices, and highly competitive veterans to recreational orienteers. There are classes for the very youngest and the very oldest, with age groups for ten year olds as well as for veterans of over 90 years old.
O-Ringen is held in a different district of Sweden each year. The Swedish Orienteering Federation owns the event, but calls upon the assistance of the district federation and local clubs for its organisation.
