The distribution of number bibs has started at Himmelstalundshallen. A few runners have already turned up to receive their number bibs.
It’s more than 15000 runners registered for this year’s O-Ringen and everyone needs a number bib. For those with stage start, one bib is printed for each day. At lunch time, about 2800 number bibs have been distributed. Until now everything have been quite calm with a steady flow of people.
– Yesterday it was really calm. Everyone waved with enthusiasm when someone entered the room, tells organiser Sonja Albisser Svensson
The competition among the organizers to serve the next customer might not happen tomorrow. There are still a lot of number bibs to be distributed. Apart from number bibs, the runners will get pre-ordered SI-cards and info papers.
– Some have questions. We answer as good as we can. If we don’t know the answer we will send them to the Competitors service, says Sonja.
The Competitors service is right next to the number bibs. When it’s calm there’s a possibility to get escorted 40 meters north west by a friendly organizer.
– Just a moment ago, there was an 80 year old Frenchman here but nobody knew French. We solved that with some English and ”sign language”, says Carina Lindman at the Competitors service.
Even if French wasn’t an option this time, the organizers are well prepared to deal with our international guests.
– I get extra excited when I meet persons from Germany or Swizerland. Then I can ask them about their vacation and their stay here at O-Ringen. Being nice is one of our most important tasks, laughs Sonja who has Swiss roots and speaks fluent German.
Hopefully everything will continue to work smoothly during the evening and tomorrow. It’s when the number bibs are distributed that O-Ringen starts for real.
