Close finishes in three of the junior classes.
Eight, nine and sixteen seconds.
Those were the victory margins in three out of four junior elite classes in the dramatic middle distance event.
“I had no idea I was about to win.” said Anni Haanpää from Tampereen Pyrintö who won the W20 Elite.
“Yesterday [my run] was very bad, but today it went really well.”
Since she started second in the field, she was already winning when she got to the finish. But it was a close finish, with Emma Hagrot from Täby OK finishing just eight seconds behind.
In the first stage, she was winning at the eighth control, but made a nearly ten-minute mistake afterwards. She has previously won a stage at O-Ringen, in Sälen two years ago.
Similar scenes occurred in both 18 Elite classes. In the W18 elite, Isa Envall from Hakapspojkarnas IK took victory by 16 seconds over yesterday’s winner Siiri Silvennoinen. In the M18 Elite, Victor Svensk from Stora Tuna IK was nine seconds ahead of Aslak Heimdal.
The only junior elite class that was not close was in the M20 elite. Simon Imark from Tullinge SK followed his second place from the first stage with a more than two-minute victory over Jesper Svensk from Stora Tuna.
The big margin of his win helped Imark climb into the win overall, seven seconds ahead of Isac von Krusenstierna.
