Fire ban in Örnsköldsvik
Because of the fire ban in Örnsköldsvik and the surrounding area, we all need to work together to ensure that our cooking is done safely. The Fire Department encourages all visitors to choose cooking alternatives that do not involve using an open flame.
However, we are offering places where visitors can cook their food safely with their own camping stoves. With camping stoves we mean all stoves (using gas or other fuels) with a burner. Small gas burners with a hotplate on top to cook on are approved to be used at the designated sites. The sites will be fenced off on surfaces that cannot burn – there will also be access to water for extinguishing any fires.
The sites will be well-marked and located in the following three places:
Svedjeholmens camping - designated site area K
Central camping - designated site area P (northern part)
Central camping - designated site area Y (northern part)
Maps of the areas can be found in the Programme Booklet on page 14-15. You find the Programme Booklet here.
The Fire Department has given permission for this exemption to the total fire ban for these sites only. It is of utmost importance that the fire ban is otherwise respected and that cooking is done only in the designated areas. Please note that all barbecues are completely forbidden – even in the designated areas.
The Fire Department also wants to emphasise that the use of camping stoves is entirely done under the sole responsibility of each individual. Abuse of the exemption will cause it to be withdrawn.
