The High Coast's dramatic landscape was formed 20,000 years ago. The power of nature has the lead role in a story that has only just begun. The landscape is dominated by rocky mountaintops and deep fjords. We welcome the orienteering world to a fantastic place surround by the wild and dramatic nature of the High Coast world heritage site, where the mountains meet the sea.
Örnsköldsvik will be the setting for O-Ringen 2018 with its unique O-Ringen City right in the middle of town. We will offer a first-class O-Ringen Square centered around the Fjällräven Center arena. All competition stages are within biking distance.
Our goal for 2018 is to offer easily accessible arenas close to town without sacrificing orienteering quality. Three of the finishes will be located between 1.5 and 10km from O-Ringen City.
The woods around Örnsköldsvik are famous for their fantastic terrain. Sure, the mountains are high, but their sides are covered with beautiful areas of open rock and pine forest and speckled with tricky knolls and reentrants. The well-developed trail systems will make sure that the terrain has something to offer for everyone.
You can expect spectacular views, challenging orienteering, short travel times to the arenas, and a warm welcome to the orienteering world from all of Örnsköldsvik.
